Afghanistan & Pakistan and Their Many Twisted Perils

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Both countries are separate governments and countries but the Taliban and Al-Qaeda bounds them together, so in this posting I shall address them jointly as they are very intertwined in many similar ways.

The similarity between the two countries and their governments is mainly the corruption that exists on a large scale in these two regions. That corruption does go all the way into the highest ranks of government. Some of this corruption fuels the highest legions of state such as in Afghanistan up to and including President Hamid Karzai, and his entourage of players that he surrounds himself with. They are his negotiators who negotiate for him the icing on his cake.

There are many like him running war-torn Afghanistan right now, and in order to curb such a rampage, it starts with the trickle-down effect of looking at who is running what in that country, and their extent of authority, thereby, deriving at the effects that this cabinet person can cause, via his own entourage of players beneath him who are in the open playing field carrying out his orders.

Now, the players aligned with Hamid Karzai should curb their ongoing negotiations with the poppy exporters as those funds definitely are used to fund some pretty undesirable activities in the country. This trail of engagement is very much intertwined with their counterpart players right next door in Pakistan.

That gets even better, because those players there are very much intertwined with the highest levels within the Pakistani military; I guess it is safe to assume that the head honcho of that division is very much the insider into this game, as nothing can happen without the top guy knowing about it.

Back to the issue of Hamid Karzai, he is not a bad person but in his resolve, he has figured that since he can’t beat the game, he might as well climb on board and get some of the action while still in his position of power and prestige. In his mind’s viewpoint, maybe not publicly expressed, Afghanistan’s problem shall always be an ongoing problem, and the G-nations like America and other power nations involved in their salvation will not be able to bring about the resolution they sought because of the many layers of corruption and the widespread continued violence that has over the decades been inbred into the society.

The current population is made up of pure survivalists on the whole at best, and really nothing more. They scramble for scraps and anything they can obtain to make it through another day in their savage and uncertain environment.

So now coming to the issue of our government’s continued funding of this war, by the possible increase of soldiers, and other expenditures for their infrastructure and economic rebuilding to make it a more habitable society, and less of a threat infested environment. That is a goal that is realistically not achievable so the current administration should weigh the pros and cons wisely. Hamid Karzai is not in their pocket; he will never be, though he gives them the impression he is; he gave up way back during the Bush administration, with trying to save Afghanistan, and its many irresolvable areas. All said and done, he is still the better of the other candidates so far in that region to hold the position as the current President. The others, if chosen are more radical that Hamid Karzai, and could prove difficult for our current administration to work with.

Getting back to the pros and cons of the decision that lies ahead which the Obama administration has to make in a short period; it is one that will not be of much advantage to America, and its current obligation to Afghanistan. In effect, it will be a cause for continued spent funding that bears no long term, and or effective results, thereby, a great loss for our country in terms of taxpayers’ funds and loss of lives for the soldiers of our country.

Bottom Line – We cannot win this war against the forces that have spread their spider’s web across those two countries, namely Afghanistan and Pakistan.

If anything, the positive results begotten from such an endeavor will be minimal, and not cost effective in terms of dollars and cents. The losses are greater than the achievable changes to be achieved, or has been achieved. Not until the top powers within those two countries and their players who are out in those playing fields are reigned in, and curbed, can there be permanent changes, and sustainable long term standing results that can stand against the much entrenched spider’s web that currently has woven itself into every layer of their society.

The areas that do count, where their own people can be taught to pledge their heart desired commitment, to want the change that their society so desperately needs, but the decades of mind condition is a steel barrier, seemingly impenetrable, due to their own ingrained mind sets. They do not know any other way to live, but have accepted this format of living as normal and natural.

So in a nutshell:

To effect long term permanent and positive changes in those two regions, these are areas to consider, and then ingratiated into their environment by multiple means and manner if possible.

1. The top reigning powers in the political cabinet must be reviewed and scrutinized, for their various authorities and roles, that they have the power to have their field players put into effect. These field players could be their military generals, sergeants, other lower authority figures in the government sectors, and so on. In doing so, it could minimize much of the corruption that exists today, leading to the current unstoppable havoc we see in the region.

2. The new mind condition that must be effected in their society for the common folks to see the potential of a new way of existence, versus what they have been forced into over the decades, and most importantly, to show them the way, and provide them the assistance needed for them to start to relearn new behaviors and new priorities. There must be ample and continued support in these areas, in order to see long term and permanent achievable results.

3. The governments must be willing to work with the global nations in revising their systems, so that the common folks have the access to more facilities which can bring about the needed positive changes in their lives. These avenues and facilities should not be limited to the chosen few, but to the majority of the public sector, especially to the poverty stricken regions of their populations and not just the middle class population of their society.

Lastly, getting back to the Obama Administration in this unsolvable situation:

1. It is not cost effective to jeopardize more lives in this spider web driven war. There are not enough lives to spare in such an endeavor.

2. Besides that, the funds utilized in this war could be more efficiently dispersed in the other areas that could bring about the long and positive changes needed in those two countries, where the general mass populations can truly benefit to make their lives better, and their younger generation can see a better way to live than to be drawn into such activities like the Taliban and Al-Qaeda ideology, and in doing so, minimize future breeding of such destructive minds.

3. Dispense our forces to the areas that need the coverage and protection, mainly the populated regions where lives are threatened, and minimize spreading the forces into areas where there are fewer inhabitants. These areas can be monitored via manned drones and other forms of monitoring, if cell starts to amass, and if and when that happens, then annihilation of those forces are more concentrated and easier to eliminate with less losses of lives.

4. Stabilizing the two regions before other implementations can be established, but only in the regions that count the most and are most beneficial to the mass general populations, thereby, to effect mass changes. The power of the numbers will, and can weaken the undesirable forces currently and continuously spinning their spider’s web.

On this note, I end this segment, and I hope the issues discussed here can be actively analyzed by the Obama Administration and perhaps integrated alongside with their current agendas already in play. It is an avenue that can be made to be adjusted, and monitored, to effect the changes needed – from the core up versus in between unstable layers currently in existence.

Predicament of Afghanistan

Predicament of Afghanistan:

Beneath the surface lies a complex “cat and mouse game” being played out amongst the tribal leaders and the Taliban as well as the Al-Qaida leaders. Perhaps unbeknownst to the top commanders in our US military forces, these tribal leaders have behind closed-door on-going deals with some of the Taliban and Al-Qaida leaders if not all of them, whereby these opposition leaders are paid in some form and manner for their cooperation with the tribal leaders. In the underpinnings of such arrangements – the tribal leaders and the opposition forces benefit and that is very much due to the taxpayers’ dollars spent in that region to pay for such collusive agreements (military war spending budget). Obviously our government and our US military do not have access to such information of the arrangements made between the tribal leaders and these militants.

It is such a predicament for our US military to be lured into and caught up in this massive cat and mouse game without their approval or their knowledge. Much information fed to our US forces has little and or no real value except on the surface it looks like valuable and results producing information. For example, when a batch of militants in some target zone are captured by our soldiers – these are the ones set up for the sacrifice – they are usually new fresh recruits of the opposition forces or sometimes the more expandable older ones as well who prove to be of no real value any longer to the Taliban or the Al-Qaida for whatever reason.

This is a typical collusive game being played out whereby the tribal leader makes an agreement with the Taliban leader or the AL-Qaida leader that for their share of funds, they need to sacrifice a group of their forces for the slaughterhouse to make the US forces believe that the tribal leader is doing his job for the US Government under the guise of his cooperative effort. In such an instance, most new recruits are set up to be targeted by the US forces. This information is then given to our US military that will send troops to a certain location to attack and kill or capture these militants. Naturedly these sacrificial recruits of the opposition militants are not in the loop about such arrangements being made amongst their Taliban or Al-Qaida leader and the tribal leader believed to be working in favor of our US military.

The losers in this game are of course the unknowing militant opposition forces set up for the slaughter when necessary, so the leaders in the Taliban and the Al-Qaida groups can be paid their share of funds needed to maintain their existence and continued recruitment of new recruits. These funds are paid through the tribal leaders to them without the knowledge of our US commanders or their support counterparts (the lower rung of the command chain). Our commanders are often told by the tribal leaders that funds are needed for their continued cooperation and support of our US forces and the delivery of valuable information (e.g. where the next hot bed of Taliban or Al-Qaida forces is situated, ready to be infiltrated and targeted).

This in itself becomes an unending war which locks the US military in that region for countless years, whilst feeding these tribal leaders who are supposedly working with our government to squash the opposition forces and the ever growing terrorism in that region.

So the key question remains – How do we end this madness and the waste of taxpayers’ dollars?
The next question for debate would be – perhaps to try and resolve this area – the tribal leaders should be the ones to be looked at much more intensely for their every move and communication. They should be watched very closely to see which ones are in this game and if they all are – just how involved are they with the opposition militant leaders? Then the next question to address would be – how truly dependable are the inside “local spies” used by our US forces effective in gathering True information versus what is fed to them as well?

Obviously, if the US government cuts off the monetary supply chain – then the tribal leaders stop their so-called cooperation and work to eradicate our forces instead (working in hand with the Taliban and Al-Qaida) which brings us back to step one of no real progress in that region.

It is an extreme disadvantage for our US military befriending a possible enemy, making compromises in hopes of real progress in that region. They do not have the upper hand to resolve and end this war, nor the real power to control and end the cat and mouse game being played under their noses!

Though however, the current efforts expanded in that region that does show promise and progress with taxpayers’ funds is the rebuilding of their infrastructure and the community services for the people of that region. This move by our US government and their global counterparts as active participants to rebuild Afghanistan does encourage the citizens of Afghanistan to have renewed hopes for their war torn birth land.

Their children might have a chance to see a new Afghanistan and perhaps have a new mindset of how life should be in that region versus how it is now. In doing so and given a chance, a younger generation could emerge to proactively work with their government to eradicate the terrorism mentality that currently exists in their society and permeating every aspect of their daily lives.

In summary, this could be a reality if the global community cares enough to expand the needed and continued efforts to see this through for the people of Afghanistan. This will definitely be a big leap in the direction of squashing out the terrorism at best in that region, but if not, possibly keeping it in a containable situation where fewer lives are taken and innocent civilians are protected from such destruction. On a positive note, the younger generation might see other ways to exist then to maintain a terroristic mentality and to continue to support such destructive factions in the region.

The triangle of Destruction for all of America:

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

The long delayed issue of Vice President Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and President Bush.

If the record is truly to be set straight, then our current Obama Administration and its Security Council should look into having legal proceedings through the Department of Justice brought upon the three culprits that broke every human rights regulation in the name of “keeping America safe” from invaders and terrorists.

My opinion is that these individuals grossly overstepped their bounds in the handling of such a sensitive issue, and only made matters worse as the world looked on and lost its respect for our people and our government.

Cheney is the worst vice president in all of American history, and it should be noted, in every history book written and yet to be written in the near future. He is no better than Hitler. Donald Rumsfeld was just as wicked. Mr. Bush too, overstepped his bounds in his position as the President then. His reward was mockery from all the world leaders when discussing him behind closed doors and that was the most damaging factor in their view of what a world nation like America should be.

The world view of America even amongst the citizens themselves of all foreign nations was one of disgust and zero respect.

Well, I hope we have learned a valuable lesson here from the eight years of the Bush Administration and will never repeat such a mistake again.

In a nutshell, America is not an island, and to earn world respect we have to give the same respect and consideration to other nations and their people. We as a people have to have the wisdom to realize that not all people are bad or evil. The ones that do cause damage due to their dysfunctional ideology should be treated with the same human rights as any other human being when punishment is set upon them for their evil deeds. They should have the same proper court proceedings as any other accused criminal would have in determining their wrongdoing, and then punishment should be set down in the proper manner without human torture.

In summary, the Bush- Cheney- Rumsfeld trio should be ordered to court proceedings to answer for their actions and activities during those years of inhuman treatment of humanity, and for the other actions in the war zone that has scarred America and tarnished the reputation in history books of our once great nation.

Cyber Terrorism & its world of complexities

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

In our current world of technology, many developments have surfaced over the years with the advancement of the internet and its uncountable potentials.

With this advancement comes the darker side of its potential as well. It has become a weapon in itself for the destruction of the infrastructures that support our nation’s support systems and other areas of our foundation.

With the potential comes a breed of players that would utilize this area for massive irreparable destruction to our nation’s network grid as well as other nations as well. It is a crucial area to be looked at intently, monitored, and curbed before massive damage occurs.

There must be measures developed, installed, and taken, to prevent the occurrence of an immeasurable destruction on a national level in our country’s internet infrastructure. To be totally effective in this area of prevention and foresight, our nation’s IT security team must look at the base grid of the internet system and its flow of function, possible loopholes, and flaws yet undetected and or secured, whereby such an act could be initiated. With that in mind, I have laid down a number of suggestive steps for the security team to investigate as potential possibilities to prevent and also counter this avenue of attack.

These suggestive steps may seem like a layman’s version of figuration of a possible and expensive fix on a large scale but in the long haul – we would be ahead of this cyber game of ‘cat and mouse’ and the intending perpetrators might think twice before trying to bring us down as a nation via the IT world of cyber terrorism. All nations should start to look at this very real (which had occurred already in some smaller countries) possible future event to their own nation’s security, and begin to build their own fortress of protection while there is time and all is not yet lost.

1.    Begin looking at the core itself and the many varied possibilities of where such potentials of penetration could occur, then the work must begin to make changes to repair and strengthen the loopholes, keeping in mind that this adjustment must be able to withstand and keep up with the newer and upcoming innovative changes in the IT world over a span of three to five years in longevity, before the next overhaul of the entire core system if necessary. This will provide our nation, the necessary constant monitor, of an upgraded system where it keeps abreast of the continuous changes in the ever expanding IT world of growth and expansion. If needed, dissect the whole core structure itself, and see the flaws to be worked on to improve the whole system and fortify its penetration. If doing so means that there might be a total revamping of the base foundation, then it must be so.

2.    After securing the foundation of the heart of the system, begin to install the multiple layers of detours necessary for the buffering from any potential cyber terror threat to our IT infrastructure. It would be wise to use such foresight and act upon it now, then to look back in hindsight that this should have been upgraded and improved on. This would ultimately save our nation billions of dollars in losses and avert much extended destruction, in the event of the occurrence of a massive cyber attack. These steps should not be delayed and carelessly monitored, but diligently worked on to begin a rigorous security stronghold of making our national IT infrastructure an impenetrable fortress, from the possible cyber continuous and or mass attacks.

3.    If this complex grid system is set up and as a fortress or buffer for the heart of the system and its protection, it will be a form of safeguard and strengthened buffer if such an attack should occur. There would be a multitude of intertwined cobweb layers in different directions, so the perpetrators would not know exactly which layer is the layer that should be penetrated in order to hit the target they have chosen. In the midst of the layers would be multiple timed pass codes that need to be hacked, before they can even arrive at their destination (if they have found the path that leads to it) to begin their intended destruction. This would be a crucial step of prevention and delay for our security forces, in order to allow them to track the origins of such an attack. In this step itself, the perpetrators would have to exert much time to figure which layer would be the layer to target, and in which direction to embark on that leads to the heart of the system, as the whole grid looks like an intertwined cobweb (as in the maze effect), and each looking like the other similar to the mirror effect.

4.    In initiating further security steps to prevent our systems from being penetrated, when such a possible penetration has begun by some cyber terrorist, there must also be multiple layers of alarms set in place once the initial cobweb has been penetrated, to alert our security team that a cyber intervention has begun and is in progress.

5.    The new revamped multiplex systems must also have backup shut off points, in the event these terrorists are successful in penetrating the heart of our system where the massive damage would occur. Points in the grid must be set up within the system shutting itself down at the point of penetration, whilst a separate backup system then kicks into gear, to maintain the uninterrupted operations and continued functioning of our various infrastructures. In this way no infrastructure is threatened and the intended damage is avoided. In this step, it may require that our government’s IT security team work with other departments on a national level, that should have buffer controls set up as well in their IT network, so that in the event that the main core of our system has been penetrated, the backup  systems can immediately send out a national alert to all of the separate main infrastructures nationwide to go into high security alert as well on their mainframes, and monitor their own systems from crashing or malfunctioning and creating  massive damage.

Other thoughts:

“Like a chess game, we figure steps ahead of our opponents to predict their next move and to counter those moves before they do damage. Technology is man-created and so if it can be built, so can it be dismantled for analysis and further fortified re-construction. These potential and imminent additional fortifications should be able to withstand and keep up with projected technological IT innovations that would stretch into the future. It is not a menial task but one of infinite continuous hours of concentrated effort and of multiple experimental applications. It should be rebuilt from the standpoint of ‘advancing’ future IT technology. This would provide a safeguard for our nation’s infrastructure. This is of top priority in today’s world of securing our nation from perpetrators who no longer need to cross physical borders to inflict damage to our nation’s security.”
